It´s a town located between Ampuriabrava in the north and L´Estartit in the south, very near to the french border. This old fisher town is remarkable because of its attractive countryside and the long and, some of them, hidden beaches. The centre of the old village, with the small streets, directly on the side from the sea, invite always to have a nice walk, sit down in one of the Cafés and have a cup of coffee. The zone of the fisher and Nautic-Port and the promenade from the beach of Riells have a special atmosphere, specially in summer.

GASTRONOMIE:
The gastronomy of L´Escala is renowned for its “Anchovies”, which are still cued and salted in the same way as the Romans did them two millenia ago. But you can also find very good restaurants in which instead of eating the typical “Tourist-Menu”, they will cook a good and delicious “Paella”, “Fideuà” or a fish-dish.
